LSF – LIGHT STEEL FRAMING
Engineering applied to project implementation
Development of a new roof covering with an approximate 700 m², using a structural solution in Light Steel Framing in a Pombaline building situated in the centre of Lisbon.
A project that combines a contemporary structural solution with the constraints of an existing building, aiming for greater lightness, precision and structural performance.
Challenge
Intervening in a sensitive historical context
The project involved replacing the existing roof on a Pombaline-style building, whilst ensuring that the architectural features of the building were reconciled with the safety, stability and performance requirements of the new solution.
The challenge was to find an alternative to the traditional timber structure that would be suitable for the constraints of a renovation project on an existing building in a densely built-up urban area.
The MYPA Approach
MYPA has developed a structural solution in Light Steel Framing, seeking to meet the requirements of the operation through a lighter, more precise and adaptable system.
This approach made it possible to integrate a modern engineering solution into an existing architectural context, whilst respecting the building’s characteristics and improving the roof’s performance.

Technical Solution
The traditional timber structure has been replaced by a new roof made of Light Steel Framing, covering an area of approximately 700 m².
The use of a lightweight structure has made it possible to develop a solution focused on construction accuracy, durability and structural performance, whilst ensuring improved safety and stability.
